The Pactiv Evergreen Athens Carton Converting Facility opened in 1951 and employing 200 team members, the facility ships over two billion gable top cartons annually.

The** Quality Engineer - SQF Practitioner** leads the Food Safety and training programs at the Athens facility and oversees quality assurance programs and projects. The Quality Engineer is the Athens Primary SQF Practitioner.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the current** total food safety** process. This includes the HACCP (Hazards and Critical Control Points) system, regulatory audits and documentation, standard operating procedures (SOP's), food safety audits, field complaints, programs and policies, corrective action log, food safety drills, etc.
  • Develop and execute SQF (Safety Quality Food) Plans to achieve/maintain SQF Certification at the facility and to meet all Pactiv Evergreen Corporation requirements related to food safety programs.
  • Manages programs pertinent to food safety including pest control, janitorial, vendor/supplier audits
  • Lead SQF hourly team.
  • Facilitate and participate in monthly food safety internal audits and monthly FSLT meetings.
  • Maintain food safety program calendar and Beverage Merchandising SQF Illuminator.
  • Oversee plant compliance and interactions with SQF Certification Body.
  • Train and maintain all training records on critical food safety requirements. Document and maintain training registry for all Team Members at the facility.
  • Maintain all registries as required by SQF.
  • Coordinate Emergency Crisis and Withdrawal response.
  • Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure that all products leaving the facility meet the facility Food Safety Plans.
  • Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred or a potential risk has been identified related to food safety attributes.
  • Primary ownership of product quality gage procedures, gage R&R, calibration and maintenance programs.
  • Primary ownership of internal hold system maintenance and data analysis.
  • Support QA Team Leader in board supply complaint feedback and periodic analysis of board issues for review with supply sources.
  • Back up QA Team Leader for managing customer complaints and routine reporting.
  • Super User for Gain Seeker software and roll out and sustainability instruction trainer.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Engineering Paper Science or equivalent preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of SQF experience in manufacturing in a training capacity

Special Licenses or Certificates preferred:

  • HACCP Certified
  • SQF Lead Auditor Training

  • Demonstrate proficient skills in Microsoft Office, Minitab, and other software applications specific to position

  • Is familiar with all areas and has a strong general knowledge of the processes in the facility along with their safety, food safety and environmental impacts.
